Experiment. Stable and resistant structures
It is important to use the right material to make pillars and beams more resistant. It is also important to consider their geometric shape and position. Do this experiment to check the resistance of an object in two different positions: Make two prisms from two thin strips of cardboard, each measuring 35 x 25 cm (figure 1). Position one as in figure 2 and the other as in figure 3. Put weights on top until the prisms bend. Which is more resistant?
